How A Small Business Gets Started With Invoice Factoring

Invoice factoring is a fantastic option for small businesses that are just getting off the ground because it gives them the cash they need when they need it. By selling their accounts receivables, or invoices, to an invoice factoring company, businesses can get up to 97% of the money up front and collect the balance after the invoice company collects from the customer. This allows the business owner to focus on expanding their businesses instead of on collecting fees from clients.

When beginning a relationship with a factoring company, a business will typically begin by filling out a client profile, which will be provided by the company. This will cover very basic information about the company including the name, what type of business it is and who their customers are. It will also inquire about things such as the company’s annual sales and the average size of their invoices.

This is also the time when the factoring company and business will work together to set up their basic financial arrangement. This means that all of the specifics of the business arrangement will be worked out. The two parties will work together to establish an advance rate and discount rate, how many invoices will be factored per month and how quickly the advances will be issued to the company.

There are a variety of factors that come into play when establishing details such as advance and discount rates. The most important is volume, meaning that the higher the dollar amount being factored, the better the rate will be. The reputation of a company’s customers is also taken into consideration, including their credit score.

All of these things are considered as the invoice factoring company decides if a small business is suitable for factoring. Once the business is approved and the terms are negotiated, the ball can really begin rolling. Now the business will have quick access to all of the funds they need in order to be successful.
